Hair Removal

Waxing Do's and Don'ts - We advise waxing one week before any special event.
- Do not use a sun solarium on the day of waxing appointment.
- Avoid any exercise on the day of waxing appointment.
- Do not use public swimming pools or saunas for 24-28 hours after waxing. This is to prevent infection.
These types of activities can cause excessive blood flow to the surface of your skin, making waxing painful and increasing the chances of bruising. Any of these activities done after waxing may cause irritation, and in some cases, infection. - For large amounts of waxing (i.e. mens - full body), we advise two appointments (upper and lower body).
- We advise that you use a loofah and tea-tree moisturiser daily on waxed area to avoid in-grown hairs. But NOT for the first 24 hours. If you do suffer from ingrown hairs, we recommend the use of Tend Skin.
- Waxing lasts for 4-6 weeks.
Electrolysis
The Blend Method we recommend uses a high frequency current and a galvanic current to destroy the cells that actually generate hair. It is a progressive treatment for each individual hair that can be used on all areas of the body including the upper lip, chin, nipples, stomach and bikini line. How does IPL work?
Highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed by the targeted tissue which is then converted to heat. Depending on the treatment selected, the light heat energy destroys the unwanted hair follicles or the cells that create pigment or shrinks the unwanted blood vessels. At the same time, the IPL stimulates new collagen production which ensures a more youthful appearance by improving the skin tone and skin texture. There is no damage to surrounding tissue.
Hair will be destroyed after first treatment and a significant hair reduction will be noticeable after third treatment due to the growth cycle of hair.
What results can I expect?
Even though a series of IPL treatments is recommended, you will see results after your first photofacial (skin rejuvenation and vessel removal) treatment within 7 to 14 days.
You can expect to see a gradual decrease in overall redness, flushing, and dilated capillaries. People with visible aging from the sun can expect to see their skin become smoother with a decrease in fine wrinkles, reduction in pore size, and fading of sunspots. Many people with Rosacea see an improvement in breakouts and are able to decrease or discontinue their medication.
Is the treatment painful?
Most clients describe the sensation like that of the snap of a rubber band with a bit of heat. The entire procedure is brief and non invasive and relatively painless compared to other long term hair removal options.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefits depends on the condition treated, your age, your skin, hair colouring, hair coarseness and density per treated area, hair’s growth cycle, medication, and metabolism. Everyone will benefit from at least 4 to 6 treatments, but some people may require a longer course of treatments to ensure satisfactory results. Your initial series of treatments can be repeated at approximately 4 weeks intervals.
What is the recovery time?
Most people find that they can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.
Are there any possible side effects?
Side effects are rare, but it is possible to experience a slight reddening or local swelling at the treatment area. This usually disappears within hours. Even more rare, blisters or bruising may occur, but this also typically disappears in a short period of time.
Lastly, some discolouration of the skin may follow treatment, but will return to normal within a week or two. It is typical to resume normal activities following treatment. Stay out of the sun, do not use tanning booths, and use a high SPF sunscreen.
Is IPL treatment suitable for everyone?
Many people will benefit from IPL treatments for hair removal and skin rejuvenation, but those who are pregnant, on certain medications, diabetic, or have a history of keloid scarring may not be suitable. IPL treatment is not compatible with concurrent sun exposure.
